Topic: Managing Employees

Most people struggle and fret over important decisions and then spend considerable time second guessing or reversing their decisions. This behavior tends to erode their respect and credibility in a work environment. It also leads to high stress and an inability to perform work efficiently and effectively. In this class participants will work through many small group critical thinking and decision making activities using the military style "ranked grid system" and various voting methods. The concept of how to use mind mapping will also be presented for generating creative ideas with a group. Participants will have ample time to do actual work decisions and are encouraged to bring an example or two from their job to use in class. A whole class wilderness survival survey and small group test will be used to show the power of team consensus decision making. The Titanic historical case study will be used in illustrating the mind mapping tool. Several outside of work examples will be used as well to show the universal application of the material presented. This is a unique fun class that addresses a basic problem in organizations and within people, and provides practical tools and techniques to help everyone make better decisions. Highlights Understand the power of consensus decision making with the Wilderness Survival survey and small group activity Learn how to use the mind mapping tool with the Titanic as a historical case study Learn how to use the military style ranked grid system for decision making using practical examples anyone can apply Participants will have ample time to do actual work examples if they choose to bring a couple to discuss in class Participants will gain renewed confidence in their decision making capabilities by using proven methods This class emphasizes interesting small group activities, class discussion and active participation
