Topic: Business Accounting and Budget

The Financial Management Certificate Series is a series of free classes for small business owners looking to learn more about financial statements, financial projections, financial terminology, and cash flow management strategies. The certificate program has three sessions. You do not need to attend all three sessions; you can take only the sessions you are interested in attending. If you complete all three sessions, you will receive a certificate of completion. Session 1: Financial Statements and Terminology Financial Statements form the foundation for business compliance and analysis. This class introduces participants to financial statements such as the profit and loss statement, statement of cash flows, and balance sheet. Participants will learn financial terminology and will gain an understanding of how to perform fundamental analysis of the various financial statements. Session 2: Financial Forecasts and Planning Financial forecasts provide the basis for strategic business planning. Participants will learn how to prepare financial forecasts and how to use them for business analysis. Participants will learn how to use budgets and financial projections to guide strategic decision-making and to make tactical adjustments to business operations. Session 3: Cash Flow Management Cash flow management can make or break a business. Cash flow management involves monitoring, analyzing, and optimizing cash receipts and expenses. Participants in this class will learn about cash flow cycles, will gain an understanding of cash flow projections, and will discover various ratios used in cash flow analysis. No-cost, individualized, confidential consulting support is available to all class participants. Attendees will be given the option to meet with a business counselor to gain further insight into their own business financial management and develop financial projections for future growth. These classes are useful for businesses just getting started as well as businesses looking to expand, pivot, or grow. You can choose to attend this class in person or online. The Zoom meeting information will be included in the confirmation email sent prior to the event. Note: Due to changing situations with COVID-19, this class might become online only. If that happens, details will be included in the confirmation email.
