Financial Management Series - Cash Flow Management
The Financial Management Certificate Series is a series of classes for small business owners looking to learn more about financial statements, financial projections, financial terminology, and cash flow management strategies.
The certificate program has three sessions. You do not need to attend all three sessions; you can take only the sessions you are interested in attending. If you complete all three sessions, you will receive a certificate of completion.

April 4, 2024 Cash Flow Management Noon - 1:30 pm
Session 1: Financial Statements and Terminology Financial Statements form the foundation for business compliance and analysis. This class introduces participants to financial statements such as the profit and loss statement, statement of cash flows, and balance sheet. Participants will learn financial terminology and will gain an understanding of how to perform fundamental analysis of the various financial statements.
Session 2: Financial Forecasts and Planning Financial forecasts provide the basis for strategic business planning. Participants will learn how to prepare financial forecasts and how to use them for business analysis. Participants will learn how to use budgets and financial projections to guide strategic decision-making and to make tactical adjustments to business operations.
Session 3: Cash Flow Management Cash flow management can make or break a business. Cash flow management involves monitoring, analyzing, and optimizing cash receipts and expenses. Participants in this class will learn about cash flow cycles, will gain an understanding of cash flow projections, and will discover various ratios used in cash flow analysis.
No-cost, individualized, confidential consulting support is available to all class participants. Attendees will be given the option to meet with a business counselor to gain further insight into their own business financial management and develop financial projections for future growth. These classes are useful for businesses just getting started as well as businesses looking to expand, pivot, or grow.

By registering for this event, the participant grants the program provider, the Wisconsin Small Business Development Center, the Universities of Wisconsin, and the participating organizations (identified below if any), the right to use, publish, and copyright the images and comments (including print and digital written narratives, materials, audio, video, and still images) in connection with this program for use in connection with program participation (current and future), websites and for promotional and educational purposes. The participant also consents to the Wisconsin Small Business Development Center providing the participant’s contact and attendance information to the program instructors and supporters (such as students), and the participating organizations.
Cancellation Policy: You may cancel or transfer your registration up to seven business days before the start date for a refund less a 5% cancelation fee to cover administrative/processing costs. If you do not show or cancel the day of the event, you are responsible for the full fee. You may substitute another person for your registration at any time. Cancellations, requests, and other notice of changes for this program should be provided in writing by sending an email to sbdc@uwlax.edu.
