Topic: Start-up Assistance

Are you tired of passing on innovating because your small business doesn’t have the funds to develop new products? The Small Business Administration has programs that are designed to provide funds to help the private-sector commercialize technological innovations in a wide range of industries.

Attend this session and learn about the Small Business Innovation Research (SBIR/STTR) program and how it can drive early development of your innovative idea and help you prove it has potential in the marketplace. We’ll start at the beginning – teaching you about criteria for SBIR-worthy projects; determining which participating Federal agencies best match your technology idea; how much money is available; how to compete, and more. Plus, find out about the many resources available to assist you in getting started and help with your proposal development.

“But we’re a small business. We’re not set up to do research.” With SBIR/STTR funds, you can sub-contract a good portion of the work to a research institution or other organizations and businesses to help you execute your project. Consider tapping into academic or other partners to help develop your idea.

Who should attend this FREE session? From manufacturing to agriculture to healthcare to digital technologies – if you are a business or technical leader from a small company that wants to develop innovative new products or processes, consider attending to learn more.

With funding from 11 different agencies, such as the Departments of Agriculture, Defense, Education, Energy, Transportation, Homeland Security and Health and Human Services, a wide range of opportunities for innovation exist.

Examples of types of businesses that are typically not good matches for SBIR/STTR funding include restaurants, hospitality businesses, direct consumer retail, and real estate.
